Water Bottle
One of the first things your nurse or OB will tell you in the first trimester: drink more water. I’ve always believed in drinking half your body weight in ounces for detox, but even if that’s not your norm, staying hydrated is extra important when you’re pregnant. And honestly, what better excuse to treat yourself to a cute new water bottle? Ask my husband… I’m the queen of water bottles. I can never have too many, and a new one somehow always makes me want to drink more. Trust me, it works—haha!
Pregnancy Journal
My sister gifted me a pregnancy journal and it was exactly what I didn’t know I needed. I loved having space to write how I was feeling, what I needed to remember, and even notes about vitamins or symptoms. It helped me stay grounded and on top of all the little details during those early weeks.

Preggie Pops and Ginger Lozenges
This is one of my most important first trimester must haves. These were a lifesaver for my nausea. It took a few days for them to really kick in, so don’t give up on them too quickly. I’ll be honest, I didn’t love the taste of the ginger but they really helped, so I’d let them dissolve in ginger ale, much easier for me to get down.
Graham Crackers
A lot of people told me to keep saltines or Cheerios by the bed, but for some reason, a half graham cracker did the trick for me. I’d eat one every morning before even sitting up, and it helped calm my stomach just enough to get going. Sickness also did not ruin the taste for me. I am postpartum and still can eat them just fine!
Prayer Journal
Pregnancy hormones hit me hard. I cried a lot, sometimes for no reason at all, and other times because everything felt so new and overwhelming. A journal to keep my prayers in helped anchor me during those tougher moments. Taking time to write out my prayers reminded me that I wasn’t walking through this season alone. Even in the middle of mood swings or fear, I found peace knowing God was near and present through it all.
Stretch Mark Cream
This is another one of my favorite first trimester must haves! I know there are a million creams out there that claim to work, but I went with the most affordable option that had great reviews, and I loved it. The smell is great, and I used this in all three trimesters, I can confidently say it worked. I had zero stretch marks!
The Bump App
In those early weeks when everything feels new and overwhelming, The Bump app became such a calming resource for me. It’s a free app that walks you through each week of pregnancy, showing how baby is growing (I loved the fruit comparisons!) and what changes to expect in your body.
There are quick, helpful articles, like what to eat, what’s normal, and what to bring up with your doctor, and even a spot to track questions for appointments. It gave me just enough info to feel informed without falling down an internet rabbit hole.
If you’re like me and want just a little guidance without the overwhelm, this app is a great one to download early on.
